David Daly is the Director of The Blue
Heaven Basketball Museum and his affiliation with Carolina Basketball
extends over 25 years.
While attending UNC-Chapel Hill, Daly
served as UNC Basketball Team Manager from 1978 to 1982. During
that time the Tar Heels teams were NCAA Finalists in 1981 and won the
NCAA Championship in 1982.
In 1992, Daly wrote the book, “One To
Remember, The North Carolina Tar Heels’ 1982 NCAA Championship Team,
Then and Now,” published by Down Home Press. The book celebrated
the 10th anniversary of the ‘82 Tar Heels and brought fans up to date
with the players and staff, and the impact of the Championship a decade
later.
In 1993, Daly produced the video, ‘Blue
Heaven, A History of UNC Basketball’ for Raycom Sports. The production
was the first complete video compilation of Carolina Basketball ever
produced.
Also in 1993, Daly began producing the
regional television production, “The Carolina Basketball Show.”
The
30-minute program recapped the week’s highlights, and profiled
current and former players, staff, and alumni. During the
1997-1998 season, Daly produced Head Coach Bill Guthridge's first-ever
"coach's show". In fact, the premiere episode aired from
Anchorage, Alaska in November 1997, where the Tar Heels were on their
way to another Great Alaska Shootout championship.
The Blue Heaven Basketball Museum was the
backdrop for several interviews used for the production of 'Jerseys
In The Rafters' in 2001, a video chronicling the greatest players of
UNC Basketball. Daly interviewed many of the players and provided
memorabilia used in the best-selling DVD.
And in 2005, Daly wrote and produced 'Back
2 Blue', a Raycom/ Jefferson-Pilot Sports production which looked
back at the Tar Heels' 2005 NCAA Championship and the effect the title
had on the Carolina Basketball program, it's players, and Chapel Hill.
